THE HISTORY OF THE DYNASTY

Written by Sir Ruthorford Rigsby, in the year of the flame, 1401

At the turn of the century, on the Year of Our Lord 1000, our Founding Lord, Lord Brigsby III, Decided to celebrate the Birth of the Christ by solidifying the settlement of Corc, a farming town a few days by horse and a mountain range away from the kingdom of Laighin, as a formal Kingdom of it's day. Agreedupon with the King of Laighin, they agreed to start with converting the fort and a stronghold underneath it, initially serving as a wartime prison, into the new centerpoint & powerhouse that we know today as Castle AinmhĂ.

This did not take long, as with Lord Brigsby III, he brought along with him a plethora of serfs that created the now living district that we are familiar with today, in order to function and serve the now First King of the Corc Dynasty.

The Dynasty thrived in connecting the greater Minecraftia to its newfound allies across the waters, a far-off and ancient kingdom named Elysium, up until the Viking invasion of 1136, in which the dynasty, already able to communicate within a days time to its counterpart accross the ocean, allied with it's Elysian ally in order to fend off the Brutes, Solidifying its place as a central and rapidly growing kingdom.

With more and more people settling down in Corc, it needed to expand its borders. and with a long communication from the kingdom in which it was given its freedoms, Laighin was not as excited about the rapid expansion as Corc was. Eventually, the inevitable happened, and the 50 years war, a bloody conflict between Laighin and Corc, which ended with the greater part of Laighin being conquered by King Gael V and General Withers I's army.

Soon after the 50 years war, in the year of our lord 1202, a terrifying rumor was created, alleging that a fearsome dragon was roosting in the cave, deep in the mountain's caves. It did not hold much water at first, people assuming it was some paranoid traveler's tales, or old wives tales to keep the people from exploring their birthright mountains.

That all changed one fateful day, when a search party was sent to the mountain in order to locate a caravan of missing guests intended for King Brigsby IV's corronation. Fate was greatly on the side of the Dynasty, as within the mountain, they discovered that the smoke that billowed out of the cave was actually billows of steam, erupting from the crevases of a great vault door. Technology that was not known to even exist, was mere meters away from the fateful guards that found the caravan of people hiding from bandits in that cave that day.

Many recall the story of general withers slaying the great dragon of the mountain, a classic children's story that many heard over generations. As we grow older, we learn that said story isnt exactly true, but the real history is much more interesting than the stories.

On the 20th day of the month of Augustus, in the year of our lord 1203, General Fergus Withers I, accompanied by Queen Amanda IVth, and his legion of knights, many of whom had served him many victories during the 50 years war, marched towards the crest of the cave, prepared to defend their homes and families, at any means necessary. Days passed, as seemingly the land of Minecraftia itself waited in eager silence, unsure of what they will encounter...

Not much word returns to Corc during this time, but just as the people began to fear for the worst, as if the heavens itself answered their prayers, a letter returned to the king's council, from General Withers himself,

"We have encountered a sight that we have never imagined to see. A plethora of strange structures, mechanical machinations with features and design completely unknown to anything we have ever seen. All created from forms of metal that exceed the quality of any set of armor, or any weapons that we can attempt to pierce it with."

We do not know for sure what they found in there, but what they found amazed them to such an excessive degree that they returned to the kingdom a day or so later.

A week or so passes, as some of the best minds in the dynasty were gathered in order to make sense of the dragon's hoard, as it got coloquially named.

A crowd gathered in order to see off the King and his men, dubbing that day, the 11th of September, in the year of our lord 1203, as a holiday named "The Day of the Holy Blue Flame".

Those who were sent off to investigate went together, in a four day's trek to the dragon's horde in order to investigate the machinations that lay inside.

The group was assessing the machinations for 16 days straight. It is unknown exactly what was in that cave at the time of the discovery, but in one of the scientists' letters to his lover, he wrote the following description of the cavern:

"The machinations in this cave are like nothing I have ever seen! There are many things that are intriguing about this vault, but by far the most alluring find was in the center of the vault, a singular blue flame roars, the heat of the flame warming the whole facility. It seems it might be what was powering the machinations. One of the machinations was more active than the others, a man made of metal, initially only speaking in tounges that we did not recognize, but after the first three days, learned basics of our language, and referred to itself as 'PN-0772'. Learning the Language of the Angels, as I like to call it, was suprisingly straightforward, for such a divine intellect. From there, it taught us how the machines worked, and I cannot tell more, as per we are still attempting to comprehend the next steps of the process."

Many say that the men that left the cave on the 17th day became divine, having gazed upon the Holy Spirit directly, and learned the language of God. While those claims could not be confirmed or denied scientifically, we were able to progress to an enlightened society today due to their efforts, so it may be possible that those claims were true, to some degree.

As time went on, and society progressed, Four major merchantiles grew to power in the merchant district; The Order of the Stone, a Mining collective, Ceum Airships, the leading developer of what we now call "vults", the GodFlame Initiative, a group dedicated to healing and medical care, and last but not least, Atlas, a company dedicated to outsourcing and freighting resources out to other kingdoms.

These collectives of merchants evolved from a mere handful of smaller merchantiles, pooling together resources, to mega companies with boards, leaders, and influence over the people and the enforcement of laws in the land. Due to the fact that the laws of the land were not too enforced upon the uprising of the companies of merchants, a unique situation arose, where the merchants were enforcing their own laws through groups of mercenaries. This group of hired-thug-enforcement is coloquially confirmed to as the "jail house" era, due to the amounts of small jails being created and destroyed, as there were many splinter groups that would intentionally destroy and break out the prisoners.

This did not go on for long, but what came out of it was a wave of extremists, dedicated to tearing down the merchantiles by any means necessary. These groups of extremists primarily consisted of beast folk, previous men who betrayed their humanity for an upper hand-- or whatever appendage they had at the time-- above their foes. These groups' motives were not known, but at the time, they were signified by a red dragon insignia on their armor.

These extremist groups allegedly started out as mere mercenaries, taking jobs to sabotage other merchantiles, petty theft, and possibly murder, but after a job went awry, were dedicated to taking down Atlas by any means necessary.

This group, after seemingly dedicating itself to taking down Atlas, destroyed a ferry ship containing the executives of Atlas, along with multitudes of innocent people. This move, along with Atlas having other issues with controlling supply chains and increasing public mistrust, caused a cataclysmic full collapse in a swift blow by the claws of these extremists.

Once this group was found in charge of the destruction of the ferry, they were swiftly hunted down by the newly appointed King's Guard, and are now all but extinct.

Many historians agree that the only positive thing that came out of the group of extremists was the ability for the King's Guard to establish a headquarters and prison in the old Atlas building, keeping the skyline of the merchantile district in tact.

Due to the circumstances of their disappearance, not much is known about the history of this group, other than what historians have gathered together in burnt pages and archived letters, and then the wanted posters that still litter the walls to this day, along with whispers that old members still exist, hiding outside the walls, in the - sewers, or even abandoning the dynasty entirely for a life of solitude.

Ever since the extremist group was exterminated by the King's Guard, most conflict has been quickly taken out and prevented before it got out of hand.

As of very recently, the only thing we are able to note is that there is a lot of public unrest towards the King and his Guard, but no action has been taken yet...
